Oil-paper Umbrella, Open (Red with Plum)

an open Chinese oil-paper umbrella floating upright with the shaft vertical: a shallow dome canopy of deep red oiled paper about 90 cm across, painted with one branch of white plum blossom near the rim, stretched over many thin bamboo ribs radiating evenly from a small wrapped top cap to the rim, the inner frame under the canopy showing a ring of short bamboo stretchers and a band of coloured thread woven around the runner, a straight round bamboo shaft and a plain bamboo handle; no characters, no seals, no metal parts
