a Chinese guqin about 120 cm long lying flat on an invisible floor, its long side facing the camera, seen from the player's side: a long narrow slightly arched wooden body in deep black lacquer with fine crackle lines, the head end (right) wider than the tail end (left), a pair of shallow waist notches, exactly seven strings running lengthwise with no bridges and no frets, exactly thirteen small round mother-of-pearl hui dots in one row along the near edge of the top, a low hardwood ridge at the head end where the strings start, seven tuning pegs under the head with short silk tassels hanging down; no legs, no table, no characters or seals
