a Chinese guzheng about 163 cm long lying flat on an invisible floor, its long side facing the camera: a long box body in dark reddish-brown rosewood with a gently arched paulownia soundboard, exactly twenty-one strings running lengthwise, each string resting on its own small movable bridge, the twenty-one bridges forming one diagonal line across the soundboard, a fixed curved bridge near each end, a row of tuning pins under a carved cover at the right end, a narrow plain decorative band at the left end; no legs, no stand, no picks, no characters or seals on the body
