a 1630s European cavalier's ensemble: a dusky blue silk doublet with a short high waist and tabbed skirts, the body and sleeves cut with long vertical slashes showing pale yellow lining, a wide white linen falling band collar edged with lace lying flat over the shoulders, white lace cuffs, loose knee-length dusky blue breeches finished with ribbon ties at the knee, and tall soft tan leather bucket-top boots with wide tops folded down below the knee
